Inspire Women are Changemakers; passionate, devoted women who see the world in a different way. Equal, Heart Centred Leaders who were brave enough to un-follow, abandoning pushing, striving and controlling, measuring what matters. Inspire is a new way, a feminine way, not one that is absent from men but one that seeks out men who want to help empower women and see them rise.
Inspire Women see the value and importance of spending time on their growth and development in order that they can facilitate the same with others. The Centre is operated in a way that allows for the nurturing and growing of both Members and Associates. This creates an opportunity to create a deeper conscious connection with themselves and each other that is about women and not their labels.
Changemakers builds on this by expanding our reach and ambition to work towards a sustainable model for Oldham whilst sharing our learning with others. This includes the following:
- Developing a Funding Network that fully recognises and includes women’s voices through the engagement of funding organisations, businesses and individual philanthropy. The initial focus here will be on sustaining the Women’s Centre and some of the Associate services. Beyond this we would like to develop a Funding Network that creates funding opportunities that are influenced by what women and girls want.
- Developing a network of individuals who gift time and resources (assets) and money through philanthropic giving.
- Changemakers will also have links to Women First Voices Campaign.
Inspire have already got many Changemakers on board , the many very special women who gift time at the Centre that equates to thousands of hours a month, without them we would not be able to open the doors every day. Organisations like the Collective Partnership, Lottery Women and Girls Fund, The Lyceum, The Rotary Club, Positive Steps through our Early Help Partnership, the Community Partnership (OMBC), and BCL Legal who have all supported us financially. All of whom have allowed Inspire to develop , grow and continuously change without processes that constrict our creativity. Being supported by the Lottery has been such a special journey for all of us, they are the type of Funder we needed to begin changing our part of the world. Our journey with the Lottery Women and Girls Fund from the start has been incredibly empowering.
Dom from Clean Page Design for supporting us with our website and the offer to train some of the women to look after it. Dunnes and Dusted who were amazing when we first moved into our building and had a huge decorating job on our hands. Support from First Choice Homes with furniture and also from OMBC with marketing. The Local Councillors, MP’s and the many individuals who have supported us in so many special ways, fearlessly and sometimes very quietly! You are our warriors, our Changemakers, and we are incredibly grateful.
Our ambition is to ensure that Oldham always has a Women’s Centre that is not defined by labels but by the ambition and passion of local women. Our way is a focus on connection, community and relationship, a different way of influencing. We are not seeking to dominate or replicate, we hope to inspire others to join us in a different way of working, to join us as Women First Changemakers.
